It seems like I am approached by enthusiastic networkers pitching new opportunities almost every day. Their pitches are usually pretty much the same too…business in pre-launch, ground floor opportunity, miracle product, most lucrative comp plan, massive spill over, no selling, etc.

Over the last six to nine months, I have been approached by people building the Visalus business opportunity countless times. The first time I looked at it more closely, I was intrigued. As more and more of the top earners I know in the network marketing industry got involved, I started to examine it in more detail. Here is what I found.

Visalus Sciences was founded in March 2005 by three young entrepreneurs. Their national headquarters is in Troy, MI. Today they are partnered with Blythe, Inc., a billion-dollar publicly traded company. This convinces me the company has tremendous financial stability. This is critical as it is a long known fact in our industry that the success rate for start up mlm companies is quite low.

The keystone of the company is their Body by Vi 90 Day Challenge. Customers choose one of five Challenge Kits to lose weight, get in better shape, and achieve their fitness goal. Each Challenge Kit is centered on a meal replacement shake.

The Visalus business opportunity has universal appeal

Everyone knows someone who would like to lose weight or get in better shape. And the meal replacement shakes are priced so that people will save money on their food bills.

In addition to helping save money on food, Visalus Sciences has a program called Refer 3, Get Your Next Month Free. By referring three other people to the Challenge, you can get your next kit for free. This is a great solution to the autoship problem faced by many in the network marketing industry. Online ordering is simple.

The Visalus business opportunity is based on promoting the Body by Vi Challenge. Reviewing their compensation plan, I found 8 different income streams. The comp plan seems to favor average people rather than just the superstars as in other networking companies.

Two example of this are their automobile program and what they call the Waiting Room. Visalus put their car program at the beginning of the comp plan. Over 2,000 distributors are driving BMWs paid for by Visalus Sciences. With the Waiting Room, Visalus allows placement sponsoring of new business partners within your organization. Being able to place people will lead to faster growth and strategic team building. Bonuses are paid weekly.

The company has excellent marketing materials and seems to be ahead of most others in terms of technology. They even have an app to run your business from a smart phone.

And it’s not just because I make my living in network marketing. I’m my own best customer in my mlm business and believe everyone in the industry should be too. I also buy other network marketing products.

Buy network marketing products to get more for your dollar

That’s the real reason. Many times the network marketing product is a far better value than what you can buy in traditional purchasing. One of the key factors in my company’s success is that our product is a great value. I have a lot of customers…people with no interest in our opportunity. They just buy from me to get better value for their dollar!

Don’t get me wrong. I am 100% committed to my business exclusively. However, I still think it makes sense to support other people in the mlm community. But, only when their product is a great value. Sadly, many mlm products are poor value.

The other thing I get when I buy network marketing products is an opportunity to develop relationships with other networkers. Every month I have people join our team because of the relationship we have built, even while they were working another opportunity.

When it is done correctly, a review can be a powerful marketing tool for you. Do it wrong, and it will haunt you for a long time. Unfortunately, too many reviews are based on wrong information, lack of information, or a personal grudge.

The information in a review can be shared in a number of ways. I distribute mlm reviews via blog posts, videos, article marketing, and email blasts. I have even created complete websites for more detailed reviews.

The two most important steps in creating a valuable review are determining the interest level in the topic and collecting the information to share.

Start by spending a little time with Google and a keyword tool. There is no point in writing a review if there is no interest in it. Pick topics that will be frequently searched by people in or looking to get into our industry.

The actual information in your review can come from a number of sources. It is critical that the information be accurate. Your own personal experience will be the most relevant. If you do not have first-hand experience with the topic, you can interview an expert and share their story. As a last resort, you can always research the topic and share that information. Make sure your information comes from a reliable source.

Just as in other advertising, it is always smart to stay away from claims of income. I also avoid getting into the claimed benefits of products or negative comments about people. There seem to be too many reviews online including the word “scam”. I’m not an attorney, but I would stay away from labeling anything a scam.

Sharing valuable information via reviews has several big marketing benefits for you. First, it is a great way to brand yourself as an authority on the topic and position yourself as a leader in the industry. I get phone calls every week from people who have read one of my reviews. Additionally, it can generate a lot of traffic to your website or blog.

Take advantage of the power of mlm reviews. Learn to do them the right way and they can have a big impact on your success. Pick a hot topic. Collect the information. Share it with the world. It’s a great marketing tool.

For years, my approach has been the same. I do not even try!

Trying to push unmotivated business partners is counter-productive. In fact, I go out of my way to avoid signing them up. I know that the time and energy you spend that way can get far better results by training someone who is already motivated.

I don’t try to motivate mlm team

My recruiting focuses on attracting already motivated prospects. With our team’s training, business partners become experts in attraction marketing and attract top-quality prospects so they can be very picky about the people they mentor.

The key to being in a position of choosing the prospects you really want on your team is to have a steady flow of motivated leads looking at your mlm opportunity every single day. Get to where you have more good leads than you have time to handle them.

Don’t try to motivate your mlm team. Focus on enrolling more of the right kind of people.

However, there is one excuse for not joining our team that drives me nuts. I call it the money excuse. Last week I received a phone call from a gentleman who had been to my website a few weeks before. He opted in requesting more information, and had received part of a series of follow-up emails. He said he could not afford to join our team, even though we have a basic enrollment that is only $49.99!

His main reason for passing on our opportunity was that he “cannot afford it”…the money excuse. No one does a better job than our team at presenting an mlm opportunity. He had no problem with the business, the product, the comp plan or me. Just the money.

I told him that feeling he could not afford it was the very reason he should join our team. I could not think of a more compelling reason he needed to join us than the fact that he felt he could not come up with $49.99.

When a prospect tells me they have reviewed our team, our business, our marketing system, and my personal mentoring, but have decided on another opportunity, I’m OK with that. If they were an excellent candidate, I will be disappointed. Sometimes I will even be surprised. But I’m OK when they don’t join us. I know I can’t get them all. At least they made an informed decision. And I’ve got my marketing to the point where I always have more good prospects going through my system each day than I have time to follow up with.

But when they say they cannot afford it, it really drives me nuts. That’s the poorest excuse there is, usually used by those you don’t want on your team anyway.

Over the years, I have learned there are only a few options for those prospects who use the money excuse. And I am now very blunt with them. If they are really serious about creating a better future, they will find a way to get started, no matter what the enrollment cost is. If they are not that serious, they should probably remove themselves from my list and quit wasting my time.

You should take a similar approach also. Use a system that presents your opportunity properly. Keep your pipeline full of qualified prospects. You won’t have to waste time with mlm leads who use the money excuse.
