Skeptics And MLM Sponsoring

MLM sponsoring is one of the key skills you need to master to create big success in our industry.

However, it’s not just a numbers game. Enrolling the wrong prospects can actually work against you. You can waste valuable time and energy that could be spent mentoring other team members who are more likely to be productive.

One of the things I really like about network marketing and the way we train our team to build their business is that you can be very selective about who you bring onto your team. I do not try to enroll every lead that comes along. In fact, I’ve learned to be quick to disqualify prospects who don’t measure up to certain standards.

Many prospects are a little skeptical. And that’s OK…to a point. But, if a lead is going to require a lot of convincing, we train our team members to let someone else sponsor them into their mlm.

Over the years I have learned that hard core skeptics are typically the ones who will require more of my time, be more likely to be excuse-makers, and require re-convincing over and over again. It’s just not worth enrolling them.

Here are the three mlm sponsoring principles we teach our team to make dealing with skeptical prospects easier:

Rather than focus on numbers, focus on bringing team-builders into your business. It’s definitely more important to look for quality business partners.

No single potential business partner will make or break your business. Do not allow yourself to become emotionally attached to sponsoring anyone. Always be ready to disqualify a prospect and move on.

You are not here to try to convince anyone. Put prospects through your information pipeline. Answer their questions. Follow up with them. If they are still skeptical, let them go.

Be Prepared For MLM Sponsoring

One of the real keys to massive MLM sponsoring is always being prepared to follow through and sponsor prospects on the spur of the moment. Whether a good prospect comes along online or offline, if you are not totally equipped to immediately follow up with that prospect in a professional and efficient manner, you are missing opportunities to build your business.

Nothing will brand you as an amateur faster than telling a hot prospect that you will have to get back with them. And then when you finally do follow up with that lead, they will have either lost interest in your opportunity or found a more skilled sponsor to work with.

I am always amazed at how many network marketers are not always prepared ahead of time, even though it is very quick and simple to do. In fact, most of your preparation can and should be completed the very first day you are in an mlm business.

Do not let your eagerness to build a new business cause you to skip some simple preparations. It will actually save you a tremendous amount of time later on.

And when you do have the follow-up tools in place, you really do not need to know that much about your company to have huge success anyway. Over the years I have found that letting the tools do the talking brings far better results for both new networkers and seasoned veterans alike. And letting the tools do the talking shows the prospect that they can easily work the business from day one also.

Here is a short list of the kinds of follow-up tools to have ready for both online and offline mlm sponsoring. While there is no need to use all of these tools, be sure you are always prepared with a few.

Business cards, drop cards, flyers, magazines, dvds, brochures, applications. Always be ready to leave physical materials with prospects you meet in person.

Pre-written follow up emails, links to landing pages or information pages, and your company sign-up page. Have these ready ahead of time for online or telephone prospects.

Scripts of what to say and the phone numbers for upline support and 3 way calling for both online and offline prospects.

If you do not have these tools in place, get with your sponsor today. Be sure that the next time your phone rings, an email comes in, a landing page opt-in hits your inbox, or you run into a great prospect at the grocery store, you are ready to follow through with them. It will lead to big success in your mlm sponsoring.

MLM Drop Cards Training

Drop cards are a powerful tool for building any MLM business.

A drop card, sometimes called a sizzle card, is a brief classified ad placed on a business card. I have been using them for over 15 years and have enrolled a number of good people into my organization through them.

As in any advertising, the headline is the most critical part of the drop card. Then you need 2 or 3 short lines of body copy compelling the prospect to take action. Prospects can be directed to either an 800 number or a website to capture their contact information.

Testing is the only way to maximize your results with drop cards. Test your headline. Test your copy. Test your call to action. From extensive use and testing, I have found that pointing prospects to a website generates the best results. I have also found that results are best when only offering one way for the prospect to take action. You actually dilute your results by offering both a phone number and a website.

There are several reasons I really like drop cards.

They produce results. Over the years, I have averaged around 8% conversion of drop cards to quality leads!

Drop cards are very low-cost. There are a number of online companies where you can design your own card. Some companies even give you an initial order of 250 cards for free to attract new customers.

Drop cards are frequently passed on from one prospect to another, as in viral marketing.

We teach our team to always have drop cards with them as they go about their daily routine. They can be left on store counters, bulletin boards, with the tip at a restaurant (my highest converting method), and a number of other places where people gather. I do not recommend plastering the windshield of every car at the mall, though.

The real key to success with drop cards is to consistently distribute a large volume of them. Make drop cards part of your daily routine and watch your mlm business grow!

While I have done the majority of my MLM business-building online for several years now, I still train new team members on methods to build their mlm business offline, too. Even though our team focuses on online marketing methods, there are several reasons I introduce offline methods early in a new business partner’s training.

First, all of the offline methods I train are very duplicatable and free or very low-cost. If you learn the right methods, it is very non-threatening and likely to be copied by any networker who is really serious about being successful.

Second, because so many people want to rely on the Internet these days, there is very little competition for the offline methods. Even small efforts can bring big rewards. Simple offline techniques are a great way to get new people started quickly.

And lastly, it lets me test the commitment of my new business partners. If they won’t follow these simple techniques, they are probably not serious about their business. For years I’ve had the best results building my business by identifying and spending my time with my most motivated and serious business partners.

Here are the 3 most effective offline methods new team members learn in our training:

Vehicle Lettering. A one-line call to action directing prospects to either an 800 number or a website is very effective. I recommend the back window of the vehicle for best visibility. Inexpensive vinyl lettering can be ordered online or at a local sign shop.

Sizzle Cards. Also known as drop cards, these are business card size advertisements again pointing to either an 800 number or a website. They can be left on store counters, bulletin boards, with the tip at a restaurant, and a number of other places.

Collecting Business Cards. We train our team to get in the habit of collecting other people’s business cards as they go about their daily routine. We use a simple email to approach these people to see if they are open to looking at another stream of income.

Learn to use these simple but effective methods for offline and local marketing. They can create a big increase in success in your mlm business.

I joined a gym the other day. It’s not that I’m out of shape for a 50 something guy. In fact, I still ski 6 days a week in the winter. But, I knew I wanted better health and fitness and I made the decision to do something about it. At that time, I had no idea how going to the gym would be so similar to building my mlm business!

I started by doing some research. I studied gyms and health clubs in the area. I decided to take a closer look at a fitness center a few miles from home. They gave me a tour of their facilities and explained the benefits of each machine. They outlined the training system that I would follow and the results to expect. I met the lady who would be my personal mentor. I was sold. I signed up and paid the membership fee.

Signing up was the easy part! My training would start at 6am the next day. Looking back, the whole process was very similar to the business presentation I do every day in my mlm business.

I showed up at 6 the next morning ready to take on the world. My mentor was there. She’s about my age and obviously very fit. Together, we set clear goals and expectations and outlined the schedule I would keep. She coached me through my routine on each machine. I followed her training exactly. It was hard work. But I was committed. I knew I could do it.

The next day was a little easier and I could feel results. The day after that, even easier yet and the results were more evident. It was obvious their system works. That’s when it really struck me. Building an mlm is just like going to the gym!

Pick a good company and mentor. Follow the training system. Be coachable. Then work your tail off. Just like going to the gym, if you do all of the right things, you will get the results you want in your mlm business.

How To Succeed At MLM Part Time

While I have enrolled many full-time networkers over the years, the majority of new people start out part time in mlm network marketing. Most people are looking for something they can do around the time constraints of a career, school, or raising a family. Many times, new team members do have the goal of replacing their job and going full time in the business when they reach a certain income goal.

One of the most common questions prospects ask me is how much time it takes to be successful in my network marketing business.

I have helped many new networkers build their mlm business on a very part-time basis. Here are the four keys to part time success in mlm with the goals of making money the first week and quickly growing from there. With consistent effort, success can be achieved in as little as 5 to 7 hours per week. Of course, committing additional time to the business can produce even greater results.

Company. You must join a company with a high-demand product that requires no explaining or selling. The company’s compensation plan must provide for substantial immediate income. It must be a true online business for maximum time-efficiency.

Sponsor. You need to choose your sponsor carefully. This has more bearing on your success than anything else…even your choice of the company! You need an experienced, full-time sponsor with a proven system, training, and tools to automate the business-building process. Find a sponsor who will close your prospects for you.

Goals. You must have clear goals and a strong reason why you are in your home business. This will keep you focused and in the game even on days you don’t feel like working your business.

You. You must be 100% committed to your business. You must be coachable and willing to follow a system. Even though you are only working a few hours per week, you need to lock in a work schedule. If you have a family, they must be supportive. You need to learn to devote your time to only the tasks that produce results.

In conclusion, if you have the right company, sponsor, and goals and you apply diligent efficient effort, you can be very successful in mlm network marketing on a very part-time basis.

For years, most of the successful people in mlm network marketing relied on their warm market and other “old school” techniques. It took outgoing personalities with a large personal Rolodex or the ability to effectively cold-call strangers or get prospects to opportunity meetings to have real success in the industry.

Now, thanks largely to the Internet, all of that has changed. With the right MLM training and systems, even shy, quiet people can be very successful in mlm. The Internet levels the playing field so that anyone can effectively brand themselves as a leader and the kind of sponsor people are looking for.

Here are four training tips to make mlm easy for shy people:

Start a personal blog. It’s a great way to tell your story to the world and brand yourself as an online mlm expert. Use your blog to deliver content of real value. Help others succeed in mlm without expecting something in return.

Use an online attraction marketing system to bring top-quality prospects to you rather than you chasing them. It’s far easier to follow up and enroll a prospect who has sought you out.

When you have prospects to follow up with, let the tools do the talking. Use online presentations, webinars, or other tools your team provides. Not only does this make it easier for you, it shows your prospect how simple it is to build a business your way.

MLM Training For Offline Sponsoring

Today’s MLM training tip focuses on offline prospecting and sponsoring. Even though we specialize in building our business on the Internet, we still train our team on simple ways of effectively prospecting people they know or come in contact with locally.

Frequently, one of the first times new network marketers struggle is when someone asks them about their new business. And it’s a shame because this is an ideal person for the new marketer to introduce their mlm business to, if they are properly prepared.

The secret is for network marketers to master what I call the “Elevator Speech”. The “Elevator Speech” is the 60 second reply to the question, “What do you do?” It can be used on friends and strangers alike.

We train our team to master it as part of their initial training, so they never get caught struggling with how to respond to questions about what they do. We find that once networkers master it, they will find themselves looking for ways to get people to ask “What do you do?”!

As an example…here’s an “Elevator Speech” that can be used in prospecting for almost any mlm business:

“You know how every time you turn on the news or read the newspaper, there’s a story about the economy and people losing their jobs, retired folks having trouble making ends meet, and everyday Americans not enjoying the lifestyle they dream of?

We found a way to solve that problem. I’ve helped people all over the country, and the cool thing is the Internet system does all the work.

Does this sound like something you’d like to learn more about?”

It’s that simple. Get the “Elevator Speech” in your own words and memorize it. Practice it until you can recite it in your sleep so you never get caught off guard again.

Today’s online mlm training tip will help you maintain control of the flow of relevant information to your prospects as you are building your MLM network marketing business. The prospecting masters in the industry follow a carefully organized presentation that delivers important information to the prospect in a deliberate sequence.

Especially among new network marketers, there are two common mistakes made in delivering information while prospecting.

One is giving the prospect more information than is necessary for them to make a sound decision. This almost always delays the decision to join your business, and frequently results in the prospect deciding not to.

The other common mistake is giving the prospect certain information before it is necessary for them to have it. It is important to not give prospects the name of your company until you have established a relationship and shown yourself as the leader who can help them reach their goals.

As soon as you reveal the name of your company, the prospect will go to the Internet and Google it. No matter what the company, someone will always have something negative to say about it. Whether their comments are factual or not, prospects will look at you and your company differently and you may never hear from them again.

Also, once your prospect knows the name of your company, they will look for someone more successful than you to enroll under. It happens all the time, no matter how successful you are!

It’s important to remember that the right kind of people will enroll with you because of you and your system. The company, its products and compensation plan really don’t matter nearly as much.

People contact me daily wanting to join my business…without even knowing the name of my company, just because of our team’s system and because I have branded ME. Your system should brand YOU.
